High Hopes

I see my goal so high, so far.
It hovers there, just like a star.

How can I reach it I daily cry,
"I've set my sights too far, too high!"

A forward lunge, a backward slide,
Was something that I often tried.

It kept that goal, just like a star,
Up in the sky and just as far.

I tried to reach it with all my might,
Until the day I saw the light.

That day I took just one small step
Which took me closer than ever yet.

Now, step by step the path is clearer
And every day my goal is nearer.

Awakening

Pain abounds

where pleasure

should be

Lost to sight

lost to me

My hopes

crumbled

yet again Will I ever

really be

free

Again

it comes pleasure

or is it

pain

in disguise that I see

before my

eyes

Around

I go Hoping

the pleasure

will replace

the pain someday
