My only solace those faceless friends.

I hope that in the years since then you have found happiness and joy in your life and that your friends mosly have faces these days.

I'd be proud to be one of your friends without faces though!

JanBeyond Survivorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13651923245154253074noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6553737404201765566.post-87000999671814332322012-04-26T23:59:34.338+01:002012-04-26T23:59:34.338+01:00The Poem of "Friends Without Faces" was ...The Poem of "Friends Without Faces" was written in 1995. The shown version is slightly different than the original but the message is the same. The poem was written by a man who felt very alone in the world but found friendship in chat rooms. Those faceless friends were ones he could talk to, confide in, and share feelings. From time to time I roam the internet to see if any web sights have added this poem and much to mhy pleasure I generally find some new ones.
I am truely amazed that after 17 years that it continues to appear. I do know the background on this poem because I am the person who wrote it. Thank you for posting it.
Tom Teague

TomT45459@aol.comTom Teaguenoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6553737404201765566.post-68146281400867510412012-04-15T15:16:17.798+01:002012-04-15T15:16:17.798+01:00Jan, that is so perfect and so true! Yes, there was already plenty of "ugly" stuff going on everywhere. But there was something else as well. In the quiet corners, there were those who were vulnerable, those hoping and praying they will find someone they can trust... someone like themselves that will REALLY care. These people didn't make fake identities like so many; what they did is take off the mask when they turned on the computer. These people were real, searching for hope in faceless people. I have dedicated myself to being that "hope" because when I went through my darkest moments of severe depression, it was my 3 young kids, and online friends that pulled me back from giving up. The unmasked faceless people I have been blessed to get to know from the inside. No biased, just real; no phoniness but true heart. God bless you brother and I SO NEED THE PICTURE YOU HAVE ON THIS POST! Trust is easier when you can't see how the persoon is possibly judging you. Most of the time they aren't. We just imagine that they are.

When their words come back to us without any hint of the judging that we do with ourselves, then we breathe a sign of relief. It means we are okay afterall.

Funny, how we expect others to judge us the way we judge ourselves. We are our own worst judge. Nobody does it like we do to ourselves.

Ease up on yourself. Most of our "sins" we do because we don't know better. When we know better, we do better. This is especially true for those of us who were groomed and abused as children. That is why forgiveness of self is so important to healing. When you forgive yourself, then loving yourself can start.Patricia Singletonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14114250171020836470noreply@blogger.com
